Lalu Rasulullah bersabda: “Tinggallah bersamanya kerana sesungguhnya syurga terletak di bawah tapak kakinya.”
Di antara ibu dan ayah, ibulah yang lebih berhak untuk menerima perhatian daripada seorang anak. Tidak sekadar itu, ibu memiliki hak tiga kali ganda lebih besar daripada seorang ayah sepertimana terbukti melalui hadis di atas.
Syurga juga terletak di bawah kaki ibu, sebagaimana yang dijelaskan dalam hadis kedua di atas. Selain itu Allah Subhanahu wa Ta‘ala juga telah mengkhususkan beberapa ayat-Nya di dalam al-Qur’an untuk ibu.
Ini tidak lain menunjukkan betapa besar dan mulia kedudukan ibu di sisi Allah dalam peranannya melahirkan anak dan membesarkannya.
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala berfirman:
“Dan Kami wajibkan manusia berbuat baik kepada kedua ibubapanya; ibunya telah mengandungnya dengan menanggung kelemahan demi kelemahan (dari awal mengandung hingga akhir menyusunya), dan tempoh menceraikan susunya ialah dalam masa dua tahun; (dengan yang demikian) bersyukurlah kepada-Ku dan kepada kedua ibubapamu; dan (ingatlah), kepada Akulah jua tempat kembali (untuk menerima balasan).” [Luqman 31:14]
“Dan Kami wajibkan manusia berbuat baik kepada kedua ibubapanya; ibunya telah mengandungnya dengan menanggung susah payah dan telah melahirkannya dengan menanggung susah payah.” [al-Ahqaf 46:15]
Terdapat beberapa sebab mengapa ibu memiliki hak tiga kali ganda lebih besar daripada seorang ayah:
Ibu terpaksa menanggung pelbagai kesusahan, sama ada dari sudut fizikal mahupun mental, dalam proses mengandung seorang anak.
Allah mengkhabarkan kesusahan ini dengan firman-Nya yang bermaksud: “…ibunya telah mengandungnya dengan menanggung susah payah…” [al-Ahqaf 46:15]
Kesusahan ketika mengandung semakin bertambah selari dengan pembesaran janin. Kesusahan yang semakin bertambah mengakibatkan seorang ibu menanggung kelemahan demi kelemahan: “…ibunya telah mengandungnya dengan menanggung kelemahan demi kelemahan…”
Kesusahan ini mencapai tahap paling berat ketika hendak melahirkan anak tersebut: “…dan telah melahirkannya dengan menanggung susah payah.”
Kesusahan ini diungkap oleh Allah dalam kisah Maryam ketika beliau hendak melahirkan ‘Isa: (Ketika dia hendak bersalin) maka sakit beranak itu memaksanya (pergi bersandar) ke pangkal sebatang pohon tamar (kurma); dia berkata: “Alangkah baiknya kalau aku mati sebelum ini dan menjadilah aku sesuatu yang dilupakan orang dan tidak dikenang-kenang!” [Maryam 19:23]
Berkenaan kesusahan yang amat berat saat hendak melahirkan, Abi Burdah radhiallahu ‘anh pernah melihat Ibn ‘Umar radhiallahu ‘anhuma dan seorang lelaki dari Yaman sedang tawaf di sekeliling Ka’bah.
Lelaki tersebut sedang mendukung ibunya lalu mengeluh: “Saya baginya bagaikan tunggangan yang hina.”
Lalu dia bertanya: “Wahai Ibn ‘Umar! Apakah sudah aku balas budinya?”
Ibn ‘Umar menjawab: “Tidak! Walaupun setarik nafasnya (yakni ketika ibunya sedang melahirkannya).”
Setelah melahirkan, ibu benar-benar memberi perhatian kepada anaknya.
Seandainya anaknya tidak sihat atau hilang sekejap daripada perhatiannya, nescaya dia menjadi bimbang. Apatah lagi jika anaknya dijauhkan daripadanya, seorang ibu akan teramat berdukacita sehingga hatinya menjadi kosong, sehinggalah anaknya dikembalikan kepadanya.
Kenalilah perhatian seorang ibu terhadap anaknya berdasarkan kisah berikut daripada al-Qur’an, ketika Allah Subhanahu wa Ta‘ala memerintah ibu Musa untuk menghanyutkan anaknya (Musa) agar dia (Musa) tidak ditangkap dan dibunuh oleh Fir’aun:
“Dan Kami ilhamkan kepada ibu Musa: “Susukanlah dia; dalam pada itu jika engkau takutkan sesuatu bahaya mengenainya (dari angkara Firaun), maka (letakkanlah dia di dalam peti dan) lepaskanlah dia ke laut; dan janganlah engkau merasa bimbang dan jangan pula berdukacita; sesungguhnya Kami akan mengembalikannya kepadamu dan Kami akan melantiknya menjadi salah seorang daripada Rasul-rasul Kami.”
Setelah itu dia (Musa) dipungut oleh orang-orang Firaun; kesudahannya dia akan menjadi musuh dan menyebabkan dukacita bagi mereka; sesungguhnya Firaun dan Haman serta orang-orangnya adalah golongan yang bersalah.
Dan (ketika melihat kanak-kanak itu) berkatalah isteri Fir’aun:
“(Semoga dia menjadi) cahaya mata bagiku dan bagimu; janganlah kamu membunuhnya; mudah-mudahan dia berguna kepada kita atau kita jadikan dia anak.”
Padahal mereka tidak menyedari (kesudahannya).
Dan (sepeninggalannya) menjadilah hati ibu Musa kosong; sesungguhnya dia nyaris-nyaris menyatakan perihal anaknya itu dengan berterus-terang jika tidaklah Kami kuatkan hatinya (dengan perasaan sabar dan tenang tenteram), supaya tetaplah dia dari orang-orang yang percaya (akan janji Allah).
Dan berkatalah dia kepada kakak Musa:
“Pergilah cari khabar beritanya.” (Maka pergilah dia) lalu dilihatnya dari jauh sedang orang ramai tidak menyedarinya.
“Dan Kami jadikan dia (Musa) dari mulanya enggan menyusu kepada perempuan-perempuan yang hendak menyusukannya; (melihatkan halnya itu), kakaknya berkata (kepada isteri Fir’aun): “Mahukah aku tunjukkan kamu kepada penduduk sebuah rumah yang dapat memeliharanya untuk kamu, serta mereka tulus ikhlas kepadanya?”
“Maka (dengan jalan itu) Kami kembalikan dia kepada ibunya supaya tenang tenteram hatinya dan tidak berdukacita (disebabkan bercerai dengannya); dan supaya dia mengetahui bahawa janji Allah (untuk menyelamatkannya) adalah benar; akan tetapi kebanyakan mereka tidak mengetahui (yang demikian itu).” [Maksud surah al-Qasas 28:7-13]
Sekalipun dengan segala pengorbanan ibu daripada saat mengandung hinggalah kepada membesarkan, seorang anak lazimnya akan lebih cenderung untuk meremehkan ibunya berbanding ayahnya.
Faktor penyebab adalah sama ketika menjelaskan bab sebelum ini berkenaan mengapa ibu dikhususkan daripada ayah dalam larangan menderhaka.
Sifat kewanitaan seorang ibu yang lemah lembut dan peranannya yang “hanya di rumah” menyebabkan sebahagian anak-anak tidak menghormati ibu mereka dan justeru melecehkan tuntutan berbuat baik kepadanya.
Lima sebab di atas, paling kurang, menjelaskan mengapa Allah dan Rasul-Nya mengkhususkan seorang ibu di atas seorang ayah.
Malah hadis yang asal dalam perbincangan ini memberi hak tiga kali ganda lebih besar kepada seorang ibu berbanding seorang ayah.
Oleh itu dalam rangka berbuat baik kepada ibubapa, hendaklah kita memberi perhatian dan keutamaan kepada ibu.
Mengambil iktibar daripada kisah para sahabat Rasulullah, seorang lelaki pernah bertanya kepada Ibn ‘Abbas radhiallahu ‘anhuma, “Saya meminang seorang wanita tetapi dia menolak pinangan aku. Setelah itu datang orang lain meminangnya lalu dia menerimanya. Saya menjadi cemburu kepadanya dan saya membunuhnya. Apakah ada taubat untuk saya?”
Ibn ‘Abbas bertanya: “Apakah ibu kamu masih hidup?”
Dia menjawab: “Tidak.”
Ibn ‘Abbas berkata: “Bertaubatlah kepada Allah dan mendekatlah kepada-Nya semampu mungkin.”
Atha’ bin Yasar (yang hadir sama saat itu) bertanya kepada Ibn ‘Abbas: “Mengapa engkau bertanya kepada lelaki tersebut sama ada ibunya masih hidup?”
Ibn ‘Abbas menjawab: “Saya tidak tahu perbuatan yang paling mendekatkan (seseorang) kepada Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala melainkan berbakti kepada ibu.”
